Obiectives:

General Objectives

  1. Development of new  methods for quality control and safety (authenticity, spoilage and adulteration) of functional vegetable oils, by using the experience of some international recognized groups, and having as final target the transfer of the results to economic (SMEs) and social (health) units
  2. Integration of the project partners in the European network of the R&D units in the field
  3. Development of an excellence network of expert specialists in physico-chemical analysis of vegetable oils.

Strategic Objectives

  1. Concentration of a critical mass of human and material resources in the field of food safety and control
  2. Link to the priorities, objectives and specific activities of European area of research in the field of food quality and safety.

Specific Objectives

  1. Development up to an operational stage of new photothermal methods, together with related techniques for the control of authenticity, spoilage and adulteration of vegetable oils
  2. Increase of performances of instrumental analysis of the R&D units involved in the project
  3. Integration of young researchers and PhD students in high quality research groups
  4. Selection of optimal physical and chemical methods and alternatives for the control of authenticity, early spoilage and adulteration of vegetable oils
  5. Increase of the competitivity of the national economy in the field of food quality control
  6. Development of the topic in regional area (Cluj area), having as final purpose a social and economical impact.

Activities:      The following stages were proposed:

Stage I.   Identification and analysis of the posibilities of vegetable oils quality investigation by photothermal and related methods.
Acquisition and specific samples' processing, preliminary investigations.

Stage II.   Study by photothermal and related techniques of the authenticity and spoilage of vegetable oils.

Stage III.  Study by photothermal and related techniques of the adulteration of vegetable oils.

Stage IV   Synthesis of the obtained results and  validation of the most suitable methods for standardization purposes and certification
                                of quality of  vegetable oils
